    About Bryan Chick

    1. The idea of The Secret Zoo came to me when I was just nine years old I wondered what it would be like if zoo exhibits had secret passages that allowed kids to get in and animals to get out Over twenty years, this idea matured in complexity and length until it had become an epic story, to be told in ten full length novels When I m not exploring the worlds in my head, I spend time speaking to likeminded peers at elementary schools across the nation If you would like me to come visit your school, please contact info BryanChick for information or go to TheSecretZoo Come visit my Facebook page at for updates at facebook TheSecretZoo Thanks for checking out my books

    2. WARNING SPOILERS Summary Kids do nothing, after which they do nothing Then they have a conversation with some people about how weird and mystical the Secret Zoo is, which is followed by nothing Then there is an inconsequential episode involving the kids humiliating a bully in the school lunchroom which is apparently designed to foreshadow something occurring in subsequent installments of the series at least, one would hope that the author is doing this intentionally, and didn t just forget abou [...]

    3. The book starts slowly and ends at an exciting pace Our Grandson hooked me on this series The four Scouts become Crossers in training crossing between the Secret Zoo and the World as we know it Secrets are revealed, Sasquatches terrorize the Secret Zoo, and the adventure continues

    5. After their first adventure of saving Megan from the Dark Lands in the Secret Zoo, Noah, Megan, Ella, and Richie were asked to return by Mr Darby Upon meeting with the them, Mr Darby asked the group if they would like to train to become Crossers, which meant that they could freely pass between the borders separating Clarksville City Zoo from the Secret Zoo The group accepted the offer and began training with the Descenders, a group of teens who helped in protecting the Secret Zoo from danger Noa [...]

    8. Bryan Chick s second in the series begins with Noah and his friends being asked to become one of the Crosser s People who can freely move between our world and the world of the Secret Zoo In order to complete this task, our young heroes must first begin their training Secrets in the Shadows was a bit of a disappointment for me After giving the first book a five star review for its fun adventurous story and authors very vivid descriptions of the animals habitats The plot and pacing of the second [...]

    9. Well, this was definitely a filler volume not a whole lot of note actually happens here, and the ending was pretty anticlimactic as well Still, in a way, it reminds me of the early Harry Potter books, just in the way that the story doesn t always even totally matter because the setting is just so fun and interesting I can t help but love the descriptions of the various sectors of the Secret Zoo and all the animals the Action Scouts meet there And I like the humor Though the story really didn t m [...]

    10. Secrets and Shaddows does a great job of giving the reader what he needs to understand who all the players are, good and bad, in the book series Though this second book may seem a bit slow, without this installment we would not know how the Action Scout became Crossers, met the Decenders, who they were, or why they are important Definitely a filler book I m assuming that many of the seemingly unrelated scenes will play out to be something bigger in the subsequent books Looking forward to find ou [...]

    11. Me and my 10yo son read this together I m guessing that he would give it 4 stars I d give it 3 1 2 He seems to like this series I like the storytelling and writing It s interesting, humorous and imaginative I just feel probably because it s a series that it s kind of slow in the plot development This book dealt with a lot of back story, which was interesting and well told, but when the book was over and you look back at it, you realize that not much happened But, I guess if my son liked it, it s [...]

    14. Not sure what happenedWe read this as a family two adults and an 11 year old daughter The first book was pretty good We listened to that on a summer road trip However, this time around the story seemed to drag and drag Description came across as overly detailed, and while our daughter generally liked it, she was disappointed in the end It s not horrible, but it wasn t great either.

    15. This is the latest adventure that my two daughters and I went on, and it was a good one, my girls love hearing about all the animals and how they help Noah and the Scouts along the way.As a mom, I like that I can use it as a teaching tool, I find they are excited to learn about certain animals that we just read about I also like how this book instills the lesson of working together, kindness to others as well as friendship Onto our next adventure.

    16. I gave this book four out of five stars because it had some boring parts like when the adults were telling stories, exciting parts like when the descenders changed shapes, and scary parts like battling Sasquatches.A Descender is like a half human half animal and can take either shape Some are like armadillos because they have a shell or wings on their human body.

    17. I read the first book of this series a couple years ago While the first one was better, this one was still entertaining enough to keep me focused It continued on easily without having to do a reread of the first book, introducing the characters and briefly recapping the events of the first book.

    18. It s a fun book for Amalia and I to read together It s about children who find their way through their neighborhood zoo into a secret zoo with lots of mysteries and some danger that they have to stop before it is too late Apparently the author conceived of it when he was 9 and thought about what would happen if we could go through the zoo to a magical place We re enjoying them.

    19. We didn t enjoy this as much as we did the first book in the series I think that was due in part to the fact that in the first book you re discovering the secret zoo for the first time so a lot of secrets are revealed The second book takes a bit longer to get to the mysterious part of the story Still a good read, just moves a little slower.

    21. Not nearly as good as the first book of the series Pretty much deals with setting the ground for the third book, which slows down the pace of the story However, its fascinating world of Secret Zoo is so compelling that you manage to power through Looking forward to the third one.

    23. This the second book in Bryan Chick s series It was nice not quite as good as the first, but still enjoyable The author spent most of the time developing a storyline for the 3rd book, but my daughter and I still enjoyed it.

    24. Interesting sequel in which the Action Scouts are asked to join the Secret Society to help prevent the sasquatches Shadowist from destroying the world Not as violent as the first but has lots of mystery tons of unanswered questions left mostly unresolved at the end

    29. This book s a placeholder until part three, with too much time spent on events that could have been covered in a chapter or two, and most of the plotcking.
