If you want a lunchtime read with a little bit of a creep factor and a strong sense of place and time, you could do much worse than Who Mourns for the Hangman I did not expect to be thinking about it for hours afterward, but it really raised some interesting questions, and it was than worth the read I highly recommend it I hadn t heard of Damnation Books or this author before, so I looked them up If this is the quality that Damnation Books is publishing, I will be looking at other offerings fro [...]

Wow I didn t know what to expect going in This is a dark historical fantasy about a hangman with a magic rope that makes sure he can never hang an innocent person I don t want to give anything away, so I won t say anything about the plot except to say that I never saw that ending coming What a thoughtful look at capital punishment and innocence.
