    About ElizabethJohns

    1. Like many writers, Elizabeth Johns was first an avid reader, though she was a reluctant convert It was Jane Austen s clever wit and unique turn of phrase that hooked Johns when she was forced to read Pride and Prejudice for a school assignment She began writing when she ran out of her favorite author s books and decided to try her hand at crafting a Regency romance novel Her journey into publishing began with the release of Surrender the Past, book one of the Loring Abbott Series Johns makes no pretensions to Austen s wit but hopes readers will perhaps laugh and find some enjoyment in her writing Johns attributes much of her inspiration to her mother, a retired English teacher During their last summer together, Johns would sit on the porch swing and read her stories to her mother, who encouraged her to continue writing Busy with multiple careers, including a professional job in the medical field, author and mother of small children, Johns squeezes in time for reading whenever possible.

    3. Seasons of Change is the second book in the Loring Abbott Series It was a quick read because I liked it, and at barely 200 pages, it just didn t take long I m invested in this Regency English family group and have to admit, I enjoy reading the stories of individual characters This episode takes Beatrice, a snooty jealous young woman to task Because of her meanness and obsession to destroy people, she purposely turns the lives upside down of some very special people in book one By the end of that [...]

    8. I hated Beatrice and her friends in book one, but decided to give her a chance for redemption in book two I m glad I did The author did a remarkably good job of turning her character around and still making it believable Now I m trying to decide if I should continue with book three and give another character a chance to reform Not sure Perhaps the author did a too god of a job describe these heartless women in book one Maybe they needed some redeeming qualities for me to want to continue this se [...]

    9. I don t even remember how I came to be in possession of this series of books The author writes about some pretty serious topics addictions, cruel gossip, and rape The recurring themes are overcoming obstacles, forgiveness, and redemption While I enjoy the stories and the messages, I don t love the writing style I did not particularly feel a connection with the main characters in this book, although I did enjoy Gavin At some point, I am sure to finish the series since I have the books However, I [...]
