Maarten Asscher is schrijver, jurist en directeur van de Athenaeum Boekhandel in Amsterdam Hij werkte verder als uitgever, kunstambtenaar, recensent en columnist o.a voor Vrij Nederland en het tv programma Buitenhof Eerder publiceerde hij onder meer een roman Het uur en de dag 2005 en een boek over Nederland H2Olland Op zoek naar de bronnen van Nederland 2009.Maarten Asscher trained as a lawyer, then became a writer and a publisher before turning to booksell ing as director of the Athenaeum Bookshop in Amsterdam He has published a collection of poetry Night Fodder 2002 , a novel called The Hour and the Day 2005 and a book about the Netherlands and its water H2Olland 2009 Five of his books have appeared in German translation He also translates poetry and has contributed columns to various newspapers.

I ve heard some good stories about Maarten Asscher by my parents so I was anxious to finally read my first book by him He completely met my expectations It was funny, light but also very intelligent non fiction It really inspired to read about the subjects he mentions, and although Asscher seems really smart and knows a lot aout all the subjects, he makes sure you can always keep up with him This makes it so inspiring you want to get to his level, but you also feel like that s possible.I m look [...]
